Nelson Hill gave me a Vandoren V16! He said, Try it, you'll like it. I tried it. I like it! Eureka! At last, a sensible reed! They feel good and the percentage of usable reeds is incredible. Somebody is paying attention and I sleep a little better knowing that! The base is thicker giving my old, stretched ligature a better grip and the intonation, always a Vandoren tradition, remains true and spot on! 



AcousticsSeries III bore features a quick response, with less resistance, and a more centered sound.High F# key.Key construction features mini ribs providing a quick response.Special brass alloy with higher copper content producing a warmer sound.Raised left hand palm keys are more directly located under the hand.Special mechanism features a C# vent that improves the intonation and tone quality of the middle C#.Left and Right hand thumb rests are metal. Right hand is adjustable.Adjusting screws are on the Rocker regulation of high EVandoren cork grease comes in chapstick type tube dispensers.

Working with the legendary Jazz saxophone genius, Michael Brecker, the result is a new reed made with our same high grade S. France cane - a model which would add a new and different dimension to the tonal universe of our reeds.

 

The Alexander NY model features a redesigned tip and profile which produces a big and bold sound, full response throughout the registers and the type of vibrant, solid tone traditionally associated with that of the New York music scene.
